The Fryštát Empire Chateau

Castles, chateaux and ruins
The Fryštát Empire Chateau in the town of Karviná, an important mansion of the Larish-Mönich family, was renovated and opened for the public for the first time in 1997. It arose with the rebuilding of the baroque-renaissance chateau.

The chateau is furnished with a valuable collection of aristocratic furniture, there are art and historical collections as well as rare ceiling paintings. One of the most notable chateau libraries in the Czech Republic is located there. The building was visited by a number of prominent figures of the European aristocracy, e.g. the successor of the Austrian imperial throne Francis Ferdinand d´Este. The chateau is enveloped by a natural landscape park with a number of rare wooded plants on the south-facing side.
