Welcome

Těšín Silesia occupies the far north-eastern corner of the Czech Republic, bordering on both Poland and Slovakia. The main artery of this richly varied region is the Olše River, which flows into the Czech Republic from Poland in the village of Bukovec and in its upper reaches continues through the towns of Jablunkov and Třinec. The central section of the river then flows through Český Těšín and Karviná, and the final section – forming a natural border between the Czech Republic and Poland – runs from Závada through Bohumín, where it finally empties into the Odra River. One of the most attractive parts of Těšín Silesia is the Těšín Beskydy mountain range – a popular destination for holidays and day trips. The mountains hereare renowned for their distinctive traditional arcitecture and folklore. The past lives on in a vibrant local culture, with picturesque wooden buildings, lovingly preserved folk customs, and a living tradition of handicrafts. Visitors can also relax and unwind at the spa of karviná region, where the iodine-bromine waters are much prized for their healing properties. But these are just a few of the many things to see and do in this fascinating, endlessly varied region.
