The main artery of this richly varied region is the Olše River, which flows into the Czech Republic from Poland in the village of Bukovec and in its upper reaches continues through the towns of Jablunkov and Třinec. The central section of the river then flows through Český Těšín and Karviná, and the final section – forming a natural border between the Czech Republic and Poland – runs from Závada through Bohumín, where it finally empties into the Odra River. One of the most attractive parts of Těšín Silesia is the Těšín Beskydy mountain range – a popular destination for holidays and day trips.
